Unique Variants

The Colombian FJ43

The Colombian FJ43 is a unique vehicle offering a few things that the 40 wheelbase does not.

The rear axle is moved back about 5.6 inches, thus increasing the wheelbase.

Some people love the visual proportions and functionality of the 14 extra inches of space in the rear of the FJ43. And some consider the ride to be smoother.

All 43’s left Japan with soft tops.

You might notice a different-looking hard top, made of fiberglass which was locally produced in Colombia.

Gearing was also different in some areas. All Origin vehicles list the gearing specifications, which can be customized to fit your requirements.

The Utility-spec 80

Colombia and Venezuela both get versions of the 80 series that come in lower-spec utilitarian trims which might be highly desirable to you as a trail vehicle.

These 80’s often come with part-time 2wd & manual locking front hubs and/or different gearing.

Some models came with Barn doors making them more desirable for heavy overland rigs.

They may have mechanical interior features such as manual seat and windows (less to go wrong on the trail).

One of the coolest options is the robust H151 5 speed manual transmission, as US spec cruisers all came in automatic.

A 5 speed manual, part-time 4wd, 80 series with barn doors and no plush interior to mess up? That might fit your needs better!

The Ultimate 100 Series

While not very common, it is possible to find a 100 series in 5 speed manual or automatic with a petrol 4.7 V8 or the mighty 1HD-FTE diesel engine, a factory rear differential locker, factory winch, and non-navigation dashboard with barn doors.

Have us track one down for you and fit a solid front axle and you’ll have a beast of a base overlanding rig!
